Enhance your skills. Elevate your story.
You have a story to write. A story readers want to read. Maybe you’ve already finished your first (or fiftieth) draft. Or maybe you’re deep in the miry middle and can’t find your way out. No matter where you are in the exciting, crazy-making process, creative chaos is nothing to fear. Whether you’ve published dozens of manuscripts or have yet to finish a single story, now is the time to write your best book.
What is content editing?
Some call it “developmental” or “macro” editing. This rose, no matter what sweet name you give it, is all about helping you refine your:
Big Ideas
Narrative Craft
Storytelling Techniques
Communication Skills
Structure and Presentation
Audience Awareness
Creative Process
Content editing is a hands-off, high-level, big-picture edit. It is distinctive from copy editing (a mechanical edit of grammar, spelling, and style) and proofreading (a spit-and-shine pass to buff out typos and other imperfections).
Is content editing for me?
Everyone from successfully published authors to novices can benefit from content editing. Authors who will get the most out of content editing are those who:
Have taken their work-in-progress as far as they can on their own.
Sense their book can be better.
Desire a seasoned professional’s perspective.
Are willing to hold their work loosely and revise vigorously.
Are self-motivated to learn good habits and skills from a variety of sources.
A content edit isn’t for those who just want a beta read, a rave review, or a “cleanup.”
